HEALTH Expert to talk health equity in Lamar via video
The public is invited to attend free live-streaming presentations about health equity and policy
Learn about Health Equity and the Affordable Care Act by attending live stream viewing events presented by the Colorado Trust in Lamar at the Prowers County Annex Mezzanine, 1001 South Main, Lamar, CO 81052 on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Registration 11:15-11:30, live viewing will start at 11:30-1:00pm.
Dr. Adewale Troutman will be the speaker. The event, a presentation of the Colorado Trust, is sponsored locally by Southeast Health Group. It is the second in a series of four events on the topic of health equity. The others also will be live-streamed for local viewers. Troutman is president of the American Public Health Association and has worked for more than 40 years on projects aimed at protecting universal freedoms and eliminating racism, injustice and oppression. Troutman earned his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University. He also has a master’s in black studies from the State University of New York in Albany and is a board-certified member of the National Board of Public Health Examiners. Troutman founded the nation’s first Center for Health Equity at a local health department in Louisville, Ky., and is the creator of the Mayors Healthy Hometown Movement there.
